happy homecoming

today is the day! we get to go pick Oakley up! we get her around 8 pm and shes even cuter than before. we get her papers, some information, and food from the breeder then we are on our way home. i get to hold her the whole way and she mostly sleeps. when we get home we take her to her room and play. she is fun! she is very curious and smells everything. she really likes the rope toy we got her and we have  good night playing tug -o-war. we all go to bed and she sleeps by me ( don't worry this isn't something she will be used to.) we get up about 4 times that night to go potty and are excited for a new day tomorrow!                                 ]

     

the meeting

we took a trip to Elgin, TX to meet with a Golden Retriever Breeder, to possibly find our future family member. we have been anticipating and planing this day for over a year now. the 40 min. car ride was l-o-n-g and when we took the final left turn onto Spence Ln. our stomachs got the roller-coaster drop butterflies feeling, it was time. we met with the breeder and took a look at the Dam and Sir and got some information on her line, then went to see the puppies. they we so cute and tiny and i just wanted them all. there were 4 female and 3 male puppies available and we had pick of the litter. there were 3 noticeably darker coated puppies, 2 male and 1 lucky female, the rest of the pack was the normal light golden color. i knew when we started the search for our dog we wanted a darker golden, we were in luck. we were really set on the dark female and the largest male which was dark as well. we spent 2 hours playing with them and watching how they interact and trying to get a look at there future personalities. we left the breeders home with a filled out application and 2 puppies of interest, male v. female. on the car ride home we started trying to come up with a name although we were not sure which puppy we would be taking home. the name calling begins with Sawyer (no), Kipton (no), Levi (no), some silence... how about Oakley? eyes light up and we know that's the one, now who is going to become Oakley the male or the female? after some discussion we decided to get the little girl, and she instantally became Princess Oakley! we were so excitied for her to come home. we started cleaning and puppy proofing the house to get things ready for her. now all we can do is wait unitll next week...
